Herriman High School PTSA team came out to host a Halloween Carnival for our students. Taylor Andrews came out to do nails/hair for the fall dance. Spring dance is April 11th. Senior Dance is May 9th. Students participated in Festival of Trees and Christmas for Kids. Staff Christmas luncheon was held. Life Design Soda Shop is on the move and going to all different businesses around the valley. Food drive went great and we had a lot of donations for our students.
3. Flying Around the World Event- Reviewed plans for Flying Around the World Day on Feb 19th.
4. American Sign Language Classes-continued this year.
5. Professional Development-Codee Flores digital coach started doing tech tuesday. Kim Jones is doing great work with CTE/STEM programs. PDs-district health and wellness, bus training for staff, compliance.
6. Technology Update- We received a phone call from a graduate that said he got a call from a staff member asking for a donation and he fell for the scam. Tammy talked to staff to talk to students to make sure they dont send any money or believe everything in emails. Speech Language Path Noel Pollard applied for a grant and we were able to get 10 new iPads to assist in communication needs.
7. Incident Command-have had several drills (hold one per month.) We will remind staff to talk to their students after drills or other situations (like a hold.)
8. Land Trust- Due on March 21st. Allocated around 22,000 for 24-25 school year. Used for community activities/training in transition for student growth. Teacher feedback survey showed they would all like to continue using money for community activities/ training (like rec center, shopping skills, etc.) If any money is leftover, it is used to update fitness equipment/programs. Teachers also indicated in a follow up survey that they would like to update chromebooks and iPads. Council input on continuing with this plan- Kirsten would like to support the teachers opinions. Lance- would the school district be able to negotiate rec passes donations instead of discounts? Everyone agrees to support the teacher's request.
9. TSSA- staff improvement. Stipends for technology coach, PLC stipends for teachers, school psychologist and SLPs conferences, ASL classes, yearbook and cheer advisor stipends.
Reschedule next meeting from March 7th to March 11th.
