  • PT School Counselor - Melisa Swapp
  • PT School Psychologist - Sarah Robbins
  • FT SLP - Kylie Walsh
  • PT SLP - Hsiu-Chi Alberque
  • PT Instructional Coach - Kim Hardman-Jones
  • PT Digital Coach - Codee Flores
  • Enrollment Up - 190 students, 17-18 AJC students working on credit recovery
  • 4 New FT Instructional Assistants
  • 9 New PT Instructional Assistants
  • 1 New Bus Driver (Stephanie Krahenbuhl) total of 6 drivers now
  • Students received food handler permits & UTA Training
  • Spirit Week and Homecoming this week of Sept. 8th.
  • New Job Sites: SV Life Skills, Chubby’s, Sam’s Club in S. Jordan
  • Added a classroom, now have a portable, start of a greenhouse, updated office to accommodate more staff, Wellness Room, Water bottle fountain.
  • Implemented Portrait of a Graduate into Student of the Month. Portrait of a Graduate articulates the “future-proof” skills that will prepare our students for success during and beyond the educational experience. The district’s long-term goal is to integrate the POG characteristics into learning experiences, systems, and structures.  This month is Engaged Citizen. See handout in folder.
  • YouTube district restrictions: My Video Spot and Canvas. Teachers still have access.

6. Community Involvement:

  • Continuing with our community harvest partners - Pizza Hut.
  • Taylor Andrews - Hair & Makeup for dances
  • Principal’s Pantry
  • Utah Independent Living Center classes: 2-3 times a week.
  • Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) for our seniors. These services are beneficial when they apply for Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services.
  • Job Sites - Over 30 sites
  • Built-In Public Transportation Days - 4
  • Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor
  • Soda Shop
  • Festival of Trees
  • Parent Information Nights - we have 5 this year. See handout

  • Veterans Day Parade: Nov. 11th - Would anyone like to help with this?
    • Aimee Snow and Julie Nelson volunteered to help with this event.
    • Tammy will give Aimee and Julie flyers to hand out at Senior Centers.
  • Turkey Bowling: Nov. 24th
  • Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 25 - 27th
  • Winter Break: Dec. 21 - Jan. 1st
  • Job Coach Appreciation Luncheon - Jan 8th - Would anyone like to help with this?

8. Wellness at SVS:

  • Laurie Egan is our school wellness representative.
  • Wellness Room for students.
  • Wellness Cart for staff - healthy treats in exchange for a positive message in book.
  • Best Days of Our Lives Theme to promote staff and student engagement.
  • Wellness Day for students - March 25th (early out @11:30).

9. Incident Command: Katie is our Safety Specialist

  • Continue with monthly drills.
  • The district provides monthly training to safety specialists and administrators.

10. Goal/Measurements:

  • South Valley School is a post-high transition school for students with disabilities. The focus of our school is teaching transition skills to help prepare students for independence and job skills. Every student's educational plan is individualized to meet their needs and their ability levels. During the 2024-2025 school year, students met or showed sufficient progress on 93% of their annual goals. During the 2026-2027 school year, students will show 75% of sufficient progress and/or have met the goal on their IEP to enable them to be more independent in the community and successful citizens.

11. Land Trust Monies for this Year (2,626.70 carryover):

Supplies: cooking, science, manipulatives, etc. 1,385.00 per teacher (11 teachers)
Community Outings 5,500.00
Recreation passes 5,000.00
Technology (cameras) 4,000.00

12. Teacher and Student Success Act (TSSA) Planning:

  • Monies go towards coaches and their completion of coaching cycles with other staff and professional development.  Carryover will be used towards technology and enhancing student learning and engagement.
