  • PT School Counselor - Melisa Swapp
  • FT Instructional coach - Kim Jones - full coaching cycle w/ each teacher
  • PT Digital coach - Codee Flores
  • 4 New PT Instructional Assistants
  • Yoga Class
  • Students received food handlers permits & UTA Training
  • Attended state fair 
  • Spirit Week and Homecoming Dance were great. 
  • Save the Date: Senior Dance - May 9th

 

  1. Community Involvement:
  •  Continuing with our community harvest partners - Pizza Hut.
  • Taylor’s Andrews - Hair & Makeup for dances
  • Principal pantry 
  • The Foster grandparent program continues. 
  • Utah Independent Living Center classes: 2-3 times a week.
  • Job Sites - Over 30 sites

  1. Wellness at SVS:
  • Laurie Egan is our school wellness representative. 
  • Calming Room: Updating with school counselor
  • You Matter Theme to promote inclusivity
  • Wellness Day for staff and students. Students: 3/28; Staff (virtual): 2/7

 

  1. Incident Command:
  • Continue with monthly drills
  • The district provides monthly training to safety specialists and admin
  1. Goal/Measurements: 
  • South Valley School is a post-high transition school for students with disabilities. The focus of our school is teaching transition skills to help prepare students for independence and job skills. Every student's educational plan is individualized to meet their needs and their ability levels. During the 2023-2024 school year, students showed 64% of sufficient progress on their goals.  During the 2024-2025 school year students will show 66% of sufficient progress on their IEP goals to enable them to be more independent in the community and successful citizens.
  1. Land Trust Monies for this Year (866.39 carry over):
Supplies: cooking, science, manipulatives, etc. 900.00 per teacher
Community Outings 4,500.00
Recreation passes/community 4,000.00
Technology (BenQ) 4,000.00

 

  1. Teacher and Student Success Act (TSSA) Planning: 
  • Monies go towards coaches and their completion of coaching cycles with other staff and professional development.  Carryover will be used towards technology and enhancing student learning and engagement and/or sign language classes to help with communication in our school.

* Comments- have the first meeting earlier in the year. (Early in October.) Lance's son works in production and can help provide entertainment things needed for dances, etc. (Tanner-Shadow Mountain Productions.) 

* Flyer for donations-can do that for food drive in November. 

* Email dates of events to council members. 

* Parent Square-too many notifications. 

*Leadership team-look into needs of students after they graduate from SV. How to make sure they are involved in things. 

* Sign Language class for students-Erika S teach?
