Principal’s Message
2019 - 2010 School Year

WELCOME TO THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR

My name is Rita Bouillon and I’d like to introduce myself as the new principal at South Valley School. Although I am new to South Valley, I am not new to Jordan School District nor to education – this is actually my 38th year as an educator. I started my career as a Speech and Language Pathologist in my home state of Illinois. My career path has taken me through Illinois, Missouri, Idaho and ultimately to Utah where I landed 26 years ago. I have been an administrator in Jordan School District since 2004 and the principal at The Kauri Sue Hamilton School in Riverton for the past 10 years.

I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the students and school community at South Valley. The resounding theme of South Valley staff is a desire to support students to become the best they can be. . . through community experiences including training in work and public transportation, and access to recreation, leisure, shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Students are taught self-advocacy and to lead their own IEP meeting and are given opportunities to develop strong friendships and experience personal growth.

This year I can relate to new students as they approach this unfamiliar school with uncertainty. South Valley will push all of us out of our comfort zone and into a place of greater learning and I invite everyone to join me. . .

LET’S GROW TOGETHER
